Services (Tefillot)

Tefillot at Mayanot are completely egalitarian; men and women participate equally. The tefillot are community led, members taking turns reading from the Torah, leading services, and delivering Divrei Torah.

We pray from Israeli siddur Rinat Yisrael but incorporate the matriarchs into the prayers. Many women in the kehillah have also taken upon themselves the mitzvah of wearing a tallit during prayers and/or while leading the congregation or having an aliyah to the Torah.

Erev Shabbat we meet in members’ homes.  An e-mail is sent with weekly announcements, including the time and place of services Erev Shabbat.

Shabbat morning we meet at 9:00 at the Masorti High School, Beitar Street 8, Talpiot (You can also enter by the back gate off of Efrata, Giladi, and Shadmi Streets).

We also meet on holidays, including Rosh HaShanah, Yom Kippur, Sukkot, Purim, and Yom Ha’Atzmaut.
